The Sony DCR DVD808E supports recording formats including DVD R/ DVD RW/ DVD +RW and DVD +R DL. It has a 2.1 mega pixel resolution and 10x optical, 8x/80x digital zoom. Besides that, it also has a 2.7 inch WIDE touch screen LCD which allows you to configure camera settings just by directly touching menus on the screen. The Sony DCR DVD808E incorporates Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonnar T’Lens and Spot Focus and Metering. In addition to that, it also features Sony Super SteadyShot that produces stable images even while zooming, using sensors to detect and adjust the shake by moving the lens to the opposite direction of the shake. The Sony DCR DVD808E also features Dolby Digital 2ch recording which is an audio compression technology used for most DVD movies and is built to hold 5.1 channels of surround sound. Besides that, the Sony DCR DVD808E also has record/ zoom buttons on the LCD frame, and supports high quality 16:9 widescreen recording. In addition to that, it can also be used to capture 4.0 megapixel still images. Other than that, the Sony DCR DVD808E also incorporates a progressive shutter system that is a mechanical shutter system that provides progressive scan performance while utilizing an interlaced scanning system. The Sony DCR DVD808E also has an active interface shoe that provides a location directly on the camcorder to which one may add optional accessories such as lights, flashes and microphones while providing power and two way communication with those accessories.
