The device has a chrome border and a plastic back. Users have the ability to use the headphones of their own choice. The SIM card slot is on the top of the device. Apple also includes a ‘SIM removal tool’ in the box.
The updated iPhone software allows user to relocate any of the icons. The Apple iPhone 3G operates on 3G network. It has also been rated at 5 hours of talk time (300 minutes), and 300 hours of standby time (12.5 days). There’s the Visual Voicemail feature which is organized in the Voicemail tab located in the phone menu. From the screen, users can see all of their voicemails itemized, and can pick and choose which one to listen to. On the screen, users are given the option to call back or delete the message. The Mail application greets the user with a setup screen with email services, such as Gmail, AOL, Yahoo, and MobileMe. Email features include HTML support and 3G data speeds for accessing internet. It also enables users to have the ability to scroll and zoom. SMS messages are threaded and the device now offers the ability to message more than one person and it also provides users with WiFi features. Bookmarks are supported, and will even sync with the user’s Mac or PC. Besides that, one more feature in the device is the iPod’s music application. Other than that, the productivity features on the Apple iPhone 3G includes a calendar, a notes feature, an alarm clock, a world clock, a calculator, a stopwatch, and a timer. It also has GPS location services, with the newly added assisted GPS that offers pinpoint locations. Live GPS gives users the ability to receive directions and follow them while driving. The camera on the iPhone, offers 2.0 mega pixels with added application such as the photo viewer. The ‘Photo Library’ offers pictures imported from other sources, while the ‘Camera Roll’ displays the photos taken with the built-in camera. Slideshow options are available as well.
